I'd like to first thank all of you taking time to check out my work. As you can see I am not presenting you a fancy website that amazes you so that it hypes up my photography skills. I will let my work speak for itself and you be the judge. This gallery is a collection of my work from the time that I took serious interest in photography until now and will continue growing as I grow as a photographer and as an artist.
Now, I will give you, the world, some insight into D. Carlyle Briggs(DCBRIGGS). I like to label myself as a photographic artist. I am a naturally creative spirit and, although I have tried my hands at various mediums to express my creativity, I came to the conclusion that photography is the perfect fit for me. I can take my mediocre art skills in other genres and create a visual message. Once I do that, I can photograph the scene. I also work as a freelance photographer and I use that to fund my wild creative visions that I want to photograph. Although I am a great commercial photographer, my heart is in the artistic side of it.
My mission as an artist is to change the way that the world looks at photography. Too many people confuse the science (technique) of photography with the art of it. I respect great technique but as an art lover I want to see something that captures my interest, provokes thought, and simply makes my brain tingle. These days people have cameras so freely that photography is seen as merely taking pictures. That is not the case at all. I mean, there are some "picture takers" out here but they are not all photographers. The definition of photography is drawing with light. This what I do. One of the basic rules of photography is that if you want something seen in a shot, you light it and you light the way that you want it to be seen. That is what makes photography an artform and not just a job taking pictures.
Even as a freelancer, I end up doing something creative and unique with the people that I do work for. This has made for a list of satisfied clients and a good form of marketing attached to my name. Hopefully my gallery intrigues all of you viewing that are interested in working with me.
Now, not everything that I shoot will get posted here but Some of it will. I feel that part of what makes a great photographer is not only the shots that he/she captures but the ones that are chosen to be shown to the world.
So, I welcome and invite you to browse through my gallery of work and be sure to browse the entire gallery because I have mixed up the images in different styles. You'll find a nice variety of photos and there are more coming everyday.
